Shwachman Diamond Project Grant Requests

Shwachman Diamond Project, Ltd., grants up to $50,000 for proposals that are accepted throughout the year.

We require the proposal to be in writing and include the following:

Name of applicant, principal investigator, project title and summary of proposed investigation.
A biographical sketch and bibliography of all investigators involved, including the
institution/institutions where research will be conducted.
Please provide a detailed description of your hypothesis and proposed methodologies
Description of the relevance of the research to any of the following topics:

• Shwachman Diamond Syndrome, and or
• Other inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, and or
• Pancreatic insufficiency, and or
• Neutrophil motility in bone marrow, and or
• Gene therapy for inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, and or
• Cord blood research; we also fund attendance by research fellows to the annual
International Cord Blood Symposium

The Shwachman Diamond Project’s Board Members

All members serve SDP on a volunteer basis:

Carol Kolar: Current President of SDP, Carol is a Registered Nurse with 43 years of experience in the health care field. She is the owner/ operator of a New York State Licensed home care agency. She is also the grandmother of 17 children, one with SDS.

Andrea Palmer: An attorney with over 20 years of experience in her profession. She provides counsel to the Board for any legal questions that arise.

Kristine Kolar: Holds a BS in Business Management and is the owner/operator of a New York State Licensed Day Care Center. She is the mother of 4 children and serves as the treasurer for SDP.

Jennifer Kolar: Holds a BS in Business Management and a BS in Nursing. She currently works as a Registered Nurse. She is the mother of two children, Kevin, and Dylan, a child with SDS. She serves as SDP's secretary.

Keith Michon: Holds a Masters of Business Administration and currently works as a liaison for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and their insurers. He has offered much advice to SDP regarding fundraising and research grant proposals.

The Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome Registry is a unique resource promoting science and discovery to improve the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome.
